I’ve always enjoyed writing, but since about 2015 I’ve been doing it seriously, spending time on it most days before I start editing.
It began with my blog, Eat Sleep Edit Repeat, on editing, publishing and writing.
I then moved on to writing novels and short stories. Here are links to some short stories that have been published:
- The Perfect Wave – Ellipsis Zine (online), February 2018
- Gig Economy – Cabinet of Heed, issue 4, February 2018
- All These Inexorable Things – Frome Short Story Competition, local prize, 2016
My most recent novel, as yet unpublished, is the story of a road trip across England to see the solar eclipse, set in the summer of 1999. It follows the misfortunes of Johnny: just graduated, angry, thoughtful, horny and lost. As he approaches Cornwall, spectres from his past converge, and he faces a final reckoning.
I’m currently working on a new novel – set in Somerset and featuring a murder mystery, a thirteenth-century ghost and a dragon – while studying for an MA in Creative Writing at Manchester Metropolitan University.
